    Finish almost finished

I ran into some issues with the finish which were a result of insufficent prep but I was able to recover to an acceptable level. A few lessons were learned! Anyway, the door lock and hinges are next then I'll complete the drawer inserts, flocking & pulls. Questions and feedback are always welcome.

    Thanks for looking,

Scott, your spice box is absolutely stunning! I've always wanted to make one and I'm drawing some inspiration here. Thanks for taking the time to post and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

I think that maple bead was definitely the way to go. This is coming along beautifully.

    Smile Nice work!

You do nice work. I agree with the others that the maple and walnut look great. Keep in mind that if you use cherry and walnut, over time the cherry gets darker and the walnut gets darker, not much contrast after a while (a while depends on environmental conditions, I am no expert on this part).

Your daughter is lucking to have a skilled craftsman to build her something so nice.

    Outstanding!

Tell us about your finishing schedule.

I love the contrast of the curly maple.

Did you flock all of the drawers?

    Most excellent!

Thanks Martin. The finish is Minwax Antique Oil Finish wiped on. I wet sanded between the first few coats with 600g then went to 800g for the last 2. After the final coat I let it dry for several days and then used auto polish and a power buffer to get a high gloss. A little wax and I was done. Not all of the drawers will be flocked, some have a peel & stick felt in the bottom.

    Finished!

I'm calling this project complete. The flocking didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped but its ok. This is by far the most challenging project I've ever done and while it has its flaws I'm pleased with the finished product. Thanks to everyone for your feedback/comments.

    Finished (part 2)

A couple of pics of the hidden drawer. The flocking didn't turn out very good in this drawer.
