    Air filter hum

I just installed an air cleaner in my shop. I bought a Grizzly model G5955. My problem is it is on the ceiling of my shop right under the living room. You can hear the unit running(a humming sound) when you are in the living room. The unit is quiet in the shop except for the air moving out of the cleaner. Is there any way to rubber mount my air cleaner to keep the humming out of the upstairs?

Hanging it from 4 solid rubber bungee straps should solve the problem

    re: air cleaner hum

Thanks everyone. I'll give the rubber bungee cords a try.

Visit your local car parts supplier

A rubber donut at each corner.
The rubber donut I refer to is one used on late model cars as an exhaust hanger/vibration damper. Can be round or eliptical. Any car parts outlet should be able to fix you up with 3 or 4, as required for your suspension points.

To expand on what Bob Vallaster said:

There is an exhaust hanger for VWs and Audis that has a loop of small bicycle-type chain embedded in the rubber. Great insurance against the effect of time on rubber. Even if the rubber fails, your air filter won't come crashing down. Ask at your local German-parts supplier.

I have had Bungee straps break and I won't use them for anything that hangs overhead. The Mc Master isolation hangers seem like a good choice to me.

Grainger also has vibration hangers of all sorts. I used them to mount my Dust Collector to the ceiling in my garage.
    Wood: a fickle medium....
