    How Far From Steve Schlumpf?...

What is it with everybody telling us how far they live from Steve? Steve seems like a very nice guy but folks seem to want to live a long way from him. In Arizona I must be at least 1500 miles from Steve.

I was kind of thinking the same thing Wally.

That being said I have figured out I am 1480 miles from Steve S....

  3. Guilt by association? I think it must be because he is a moderator and a mentor to so many, so when folks post, they must get braggin' rights

I think it must be part of the recovery process from the vortex: Step one - admit your addiction...
Step 2- admit your association with all these nafarious creekers

Step 3 - when you think about it, who would want to give up this addiction anyway, so just forget about steps one and two

I've been wondering that for quite some time. As far as I can tell, Steve is 958.45 miles away from me.

    Egocentric? no ....

It started when his neighbor, Bob, said he lived next door to Steve. I then said I lived a few hours south of Steve and many people have joined in since. He is the nicest guy in Michigan!

I haven't checked my mileage to Steve, but save for the weather there, and the grandkids here, I would love to live closer. He has been mentor supreme for me from day one of my dive into the world of turning. Steve has been more than helpful, and is my official "design committee" - always willing to look at a pic and give me an opinion.

Super guy, great woodturner, and Steve personifies the "spirit of the creek!"

    Maybe that is the reason?!?!?

This is fun. Kinda like the 7 degree's of Kevin Bacon.

1050 miles according to Google Earth for me. OR 18 hours and 5 minutes.

Yea I was wondering that too... it looks like I'm pretty close to him... but then I didn't want it to seem like I was trying to brag, because it isn't like I really know him!

It just shows how spread out we are! Maybe as moderator (I think he may have been the only one active when I joined) we figured he is the center of the SMC turning forum....

    +1

1694 or 1733 miles depending on which route, google recommends the longer one as being faster so that is the one that I will go with.
