    dust collection at lathe

I have been looking for a dust collector to use at the lathe while sanding. I am leaning towards the 1 1/2 horse power collector with a 1 micron bag. From pennstate industries. Has anybody used this system? likes or dislikes? What do you guys use?

Workshop forum in general on DC needs

Check there, I suspect the thread will be moved.
As regards specific pickup at the lathe, I got this from Woodcraft http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/200...tion-Head.aspx and I like it alot. I have a full size lathe, PM3520, and this works very effectively.

If you have a smaller lathe, there are some nice polycarbonate shields that hold on with magnets that would be nice... http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/200...-Dusthood.aspx . I haven't used this one, but saw it and thought it looked appropriate for mini-lathes and midi-lathes.

By the way...you'll probably find alot of people go with Harbor Freight
DC...excellent value and lots of hacks you can do to make it a fine system on a budget. (2hp version)

Haven't used the PSI dust collector, but I do have the Harbor Freight unit mentioned, with a Wynn cartridge filter it is really hard to beat, especially for the money.

My dust hood on the lathe is a modified floor register box with a 4" port, I have 4 1" rare earth magnets epoxied to it. Works fine...
Trying to follow the example of the master...
