anone every find a cheap splash proof digital caliper?

I wanted a shock and dust proof digital caliper but the good ones are 150 for a 4" I can't find a cheap version like you can the standard digital caliper.
I was also after one of those thickness digital calipers. I get get a good one for 100.00 or a really cheap one that only does 1/2" for 15.00 but nothing inbetween.

After going thru a half dozen of the $20 -$30 cheapo's, I finally spend the $100 and got Mitutoyo coolant proof. Instead of 20 days the battery has lasted a year. I hardly know how to read one thats not blinking. Go for the $100 good brand, you wont be sorry

20 to 30? man they go for about 15 and batteries on ebay are cheap. but I sure understand but so far about 160 is the cheapest I have found. plus I like 2 or three laying around so that really starts getting expensive.

Like you I tried the China made cheapo's. I am sure between eBay and Rockler I bought 6 or 8 of them and they all either stop working, use up batteries in a week or even worse I had a few that read incorrectly. In the long run the Mitutoyo's are cheaper.

Since I am "an American Manufacturer" I avoid products from China even when it costs a few more bucks. It's a small thing, but I would rather be part of the solution than be part of the problem.

I don't usually buy cheap tools but we are talking about almost 150.00 price difference. if I want three that's about 500.00
but I may only be able to get one. but it's nice to have them all match.
I wish I could find something in between the two. but so far no luck.
