    Christmas in March

Every year it seems I wait until the I have to put myself in panic mode to get the Christmas stuff started. This year I'm starting early and putting it on the shelf until Christmas.

Had a piece of cherry around that looked like it was suppose to be a grandkids bank so that's what it became.

Here is a prototype of what they are getting as their hand crafted gift this year. The cherry looks kind of dead so I will make them out of something more lively.

Jim, that really turned out nice. I would suggest putting a coat of BLO on the cherry, then a coat of shellac. It should warm it up quite a bit.

Pat - Some I picked up off of eBay and some I got from a SMC member.

I can tell you, it was my experience, the newer ones were in better shape. Some of the older ones (1950's dated) looked like someone had coated them with something that was flaking off. The locks in all of them work fine though.

John - I was in a hurry with this one and didn't want to wait for the oil to dry. This one just has the Beall Buff System applied to it. Quick, easy, looks and feels like natural wood. I will give the others a different base treatment.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Smart man. I say the same thing every year; get an early start on Christmas gifts. What really occurs is the last minute scramble.
Really nice boxes; need another grandkid???

Excellent idea to get started now if you are not tied to carcass projects Jim. That bank looks fantastic and thanks on the tip on where for the works as that would have been a question.

    Extremely well done...
