The road IS the destination.
Not much in the way of woodworking clubs/functions or unique wwodworking supply stores
But we have 5 full service casinos. By full service I mean that they will fully take any extra money you may carry.
But if you get real bored you can help me set up a dust collection system in my garage shop.
You coming to Barksdale AFB?
Casinos? pfffft. If I want to see casinos, I'll visit ours. No, not Barksdale, I'm not a zoomie. I develop software for the gaming (casino) industry, and part of our company is there, so I get to work and play with them for 2 weeks.

If it was me, and the mid-trip weekend was free, I'd be looking for specs and redfish on the coast.
When I started woodworking, I didn't know squat. I have progressed in 30 years - now I do know squat.
John,
Tyler, Tx is about 100 miles from Shrevesport. Our local club, East Texas Woodturners, has a meeting March 20. That may be a stretch for you. Send me a PM if you are interested in coming this way.
There was a creeker advertising a nice Oneida dust collector who is in LA. Might be worth looking into if you need one, or you could bring it back for a creeker who does.
