    If the budget is there for the 2HP version and you have 220 in the shop, I would say go for the extra power. I'm very happy with my 1642-2hp, and I think it does make a difference with larger size bowl blanks.

    I appreciate all of your input. I think I will go with the 2hp. I have 220 all around my garage already and have numerous 220 machines out there already so that is not the problem.

    2HP rumor

    I confirmed with Jet that the 1642 2HP being discontinued IS a rumor. They have no intention of discontinuing it.

    Does anyone know what the sale price is supposedly going to be? Any idea what Toolnut will be offering it for?

    Sean quoted me $1537 for the 1.5 hp and 1827 for the 2 hp. That included shipping to the 16506 zip. This is during the March Madness sale. About $100 off normal price.
