Best way to cut 2 pith log

I have a apple but log that I am going to make some blanks from. the log is 8" x 12". Down the middle is a double pith. If I slice it right down both piths at once I get 2 12x4 is blanks. If I go the other way I get 2 8x4 is blanks but waste the wood between the piths. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I myself would cut it where I would get the two blanks 12" X 4". Of course if there is enough wood between the piths you might get the two bowls and maybe a platter. But for me I would go with the first.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
