Thread: Welcome to our new Wood Turning Forum

    Puzzled.

I notice that some messages posted on the turning forum show up on the new Posts list while others don't. Is there a reason for this?

The rules for selecting New Posts are the same on each of the forums.. There is however a 45 minute window--once you are inactive for 45 minutes, all of your posts will be marked as read.

I suggest that once you click on new posts, go through the search results SHIFT+CLICKing on the threads you want to read. In IE, this will open the threads in a new window. This way, you can quickly run through the New Posts, mark the forums read, and then find the posts that changed since you started reading.

Aaron: What a great tip.....wish I had known that a hundred years ago!!!
Being a self-taught Win user, I wonder how many other neat little tricks there are that I have missed. Guess I ought to sit down with a book.....but when I get free time, sitting at the lathe is more appealing than sitting with a book???

  4. I guess I still don't unserstand.

As an example I have posted a couple messages on the turning forum and they have never shown up on the New Post list when I log on. Doesn't really matter. I was just curious.

It could also be your ISP or browser cache getting involved; there are some threads in the Support Forum on how to resolve problems with New Posts not showing up.

    Keith,

Glad you got the same first name and thanks for the turners forum.
Just wanted to see if the reply button worked.

Thank you; glad to join this group. Until I figure out how to maneuver through this, I'll kick it off with this; I have owned the Pro 4 ft'r and 8 ft'r Tru-Grip Professional Clamping Straight Edge Guide for many years; I have been unable to locate the saw guide that accompanied this guide. Any suggestions?

Jose, what does this have to do with wood turning? I'm missing something.

It has nothing to do with wood turning; as I stated, I'm new to this forum and don't know where to post a comment/question.

Your point is what? Spam? I asked a simple question about a saw plate.

Jose, until you learn how to maneuver around, forums, particularly large ones like SMC can be confusing. Go over to our General Woodworking & Power Tools forum to ask your question: https://sawmillcreek.org/forumdispla...nd-Power-Tools

Our main page lists all the different forum categories: https://sawmillcreek.org/forum.php

I would also suggest you look at the dates of posts. In this case the last post in this thread was made 14 years ago.
