    Makita planer 2012NB

I tend to feed a lot of hardwood into my little Makita planer and have noticed lately that the motor has gotten louder and seems to be running a little rougher. Has anyone else had the same problem and is it something that I can fix myself? The planer is maybe 1 year old and was purchased from Amazon.

I have the same planer and also run some very hard wood... furniture wood here in Brazil are usually veeery hard, except mahogany. No problem so far.

Probably your planer is yet under manufacturer warranty. I would claim their warranty...

My only two observations about this planer is that you must keep the bed free of pitch so that it doesn't create resistance and that you must have sharp blades. If you haven't tried changing the blades, the blade set is reversible so that you can get two uses out of each blade. Once the blades become dull, progress is slower and noisier.
