    I can't find my notes, but I think it is silver maple (maybe).

    I love it... Definitely a case of function dictating form with the nice deep sides.

    I like it. Is it stained, what kind of finish can you use to safely use it as a salad bowl.

    I forgot to say it has 3 coats of Danish oil, with 3 days between coats.

    Nice bowl... Did you use a beading tool for the rim or freehand?

    I did it with a skew laid flat on the tool rest to make the rim area.
