    Medway Doble in Mull, Scotland

    Hi All

Just got introduced to this forum a couple of days ago and I thought I’d post some pictures of a small dinghy I made.
It’s called a Medway Doble 12’6” made from 6mm Ply using the stitch and glue technique. Took me 6 weeks of evenings and weekends from start to finish (including trailer).
Spars, gunwales ect are made from Douglas Fir and my wife made the sail. We didn’t have anywhere big enough to layout the sail cloth, so we had a word with our local priest and pined the sail out on the church floor!
The plans I bought from Selway Fisher http://www.selway-fisher.com/Other1013.htm#MED
I’ve taken the boat out in quite a chop and she handles like a charm, much better that I expected.
The pictures of the finished boat were taken on the island of Mull in Scotland.

Nice work Andrew! Seeing you in your shop working on the boat brings back a lot of memories. I built a 19' sloop in the late 70's but it took me 2 1/2 years.

Thanks for the comments. When I got married I lived for a few years on a 55’ narrow boat which I fitted out, but this was the first complete boat I have made. I had as much enjoyment out of building it as I did sailing it.
“Great photography” thanks, more by luck than judgment really. That’s my dad in the shop helping out. I would like to sell it in the spring, I need to raise some funds for a new mast for a larger boat I have had for many years. It’s a 17’ “Rebell” designed by Eric Colman built in 1965.
