    Kitchen cabinets completed, mostly

I thought I'd update folks on the kitchen cabinet project that I used to blather on about. Got the last of the upper cabinets installed this weekend; the only thing left is to install knobs and undercabinet lighting. Oh, and maybe install the shelves and, you know, actually put stuff in the things. Time from first cut to final installation: nearly 5 years. [laughs at self] The doors feature the lovely cherry that Larry Fox sent me.

Later I'm going to build and install toekick drawers (the slides are already there) and build a set of display cabinets and a wine rack to go up top and hide my ugly ductwork.

Pictures from the install are here and here.

Looks good Chip! Glad you didn't undertake a "progress build" thread on this one - five years would be a bit long Looks like you are on the home stretch here, though, and I predict the knobs/lights will be done in short order!

Apparently, you have a patient spouse.

5 years? Well I got ya beat

Started ours in 1997, never finished the uppers.
Then last year we decided to do them different, out of cherry.
I've only got 4 uppers done. Lowers are still the old oak ones.

Plumbers got leaky pipes ya know.

Looking good, Chip. Five years is like and Austrailian engagement. Plenty of time to change your mind in the process reaching the "final solution".
    Sarge..

Beautiful cabinets, both inside and out.

What made you decide on the blue countertop?

The countertop is actually purple. It goes well with the wood and the walls, and, well, we like purple. :-)

The ancient horrible gas range that came with the house. When budget allows, I'm replacing it with something decent.

I was like "oh, sweet vintage range!"

    Nice cabinets, too.
