    natural edge spalted maple bowl

finished this bowl over the weekend from a piece of spalted maple. bark was intact when i started turning, but of course flew off in pieces as i was nearing completion. has a couple of coats of wipe-on poly; kinda looks like a turtle in the upside down photo, to me. comments / critques welcome. mike

Mike - love the rich colors in the wood! Nice form on the bowl. The bowl is a tad thick for my personal tastes but you did a good job of keeping everything consistent. To bad about the bark but you kept the natural edge and (to me) that is what matters.

Mike that is a nice looking bowl. Bark can be hard to keep on. I prefer the thinner walls on my NE's but that is just me.

Nice bowl. There is a lot going on with the grain on the inside of the bowl - quite interesting.
