    Locust Burl Bowl....

Because of the worm holes in the sapwood of this piece I cut the walls very thin to give it a sort of lacey look. 6 inches in dia. Comments?

Beautiful work Wally! Love the colors in the wood! Great form! The natural edge really draws attention! Thanks for sharing!

    Very nice!

    Wally,

I love the bowl/vase. The natural edge and worm holes contrast well with the elegant form. Glancing at the thumbnail, I thought I'd dislike the "clunky" foot. Well, the foot's not clunky; it's elegant refined. It sets the tone for the rest of the piece, creating an expectation of thinness and lightness. Very well done.

Is that a Honey Locust or a Black Locust?

    Wally,
What a great looking piece. Very nice work on form and finish. Great tool work to get it that thin on the walls. Very well done, Wally.

That's some amazing color in that wood. The form really sets it off.

I don't know...It was given to me as a locust burl. Locust isn't a wood that I've had much experience with.
