    Mallet a la Marley

I saw on Larry Marley's excellent website that he had made a mallet from the wood inside an old bowling pin. I went to my local alley, and asked if they could spare any old, beat-up pins. They gladly gave me 3; I kept 2, and gave 1 to a work aquaintence to shoot at. Anyway, here is the reward for my effort, and the bowling alley's generousity - don't know if it is maple, as Larry said his was, or pine - turned kinda 'rippy', but sanded well. It currently has 1 coat of BLO; will get more. Let me know what you think, if you like.

Looks good Mike! Grain looks pretty tight to be pine - so have to think it is some type of maple.

Great looking mallet Mike. Like Steve said kinda reminds me of maple.

That should make you a fine beating instrument!!
If at first you don't succeed, look in the trash for the instructions.
