    Intricate designs for laser cutting in to paper

    Hi guy's,

    I know there must be thread in the forum some where but like a numpty I can't find it.

    What I'm looking for is a really impressive vector design that I can cut in to paper as a sample to show a client.

    I want it to show off the level of detail that can be achieved using the laser to vector cut paper for the gift and card market.

    All the designs I have are designed to be raster engraved and when vector cut just fall apart...

    Also check out traditional Chinese, Balinese and Polish paper cutting craft. Its all scissor cut by hand, but you can trace the designs in vector format. Its very intricate and impressive.

    There are many books out there on pop-up cards,
    this is an actuall design tool.

    I've used it on a few cards,
    printed out the layout after designing,
    scanned it to Corel and traced the lines.

    I was then set to let the laser make the cuts for it.


    Many interesting possibilities here.

    sometime ago - somebody posted a link to www.cubecraft.com. All sorts of wierd block people you can do with craft paper and a laser (or sharp sissors and patience!)

    Have a try at creating your own designs using the post script fill tool along with standard Corel shapes. You'll be surprised how easy it is to do.

    A couple of weeks ago there was a thread about using the post script tool. It may have been under 3d or engraving guns.

    I have assumed you are using Corel.

    Also search using Christmas and snowflake as keywords.. There are zillions (well maybe not zillions) of vector cut able snowflakes on the creek
    Epilog 24TT(somewhere between 35-45 watts), CorelX4, Photograv(the old one, it works!), HotStamping, Pantograph, Vulcanizer, PolymerPlatemaker, Sandblasting Cabinet, and a 30 year collection of Assorted 'Junque'
