I've tried it, several times with an already broke mirror tile. Doesn't work. All a laser does is randomly fracture the surface of the glass. It does this in a straight line, but since all the fractures are random, there's no path of least resistance for the glass to break. A diamond cutting wheel will carve a ditch in the glass, creating that path of least resistance needed...
