Woodcarvers workbench

I have a big heavy workbench complete with vises in my shop, but I'm looking for ideas for something portable. To take to the lake or down south for the winter. I suppose the ultimate one is from Lee Valley page 147, but I would be risking my life I bought it. So, it has to cost less than that. Any ideas?

Here is another small bench from Fine Woodworking. I hope the link works for people that are not members of Fine Woodworking. I'm rebuilding an old school shop workbench right now. When I am done with that, I want to make a carving bench to sit on top. I think I'll use parts of several of these designs.

Thank you for the link on the carving benches, a very cost efective alternate to the LV.

Ron,

I use a Sears clamping table. It is height adjustable, tilts and clamps to hold your carving material. Perfect for relief carving. You do need to add some weight or use your foot to keep it from walking while striking the tool with the mallet.
