    M1A1 Tank 3D Model + ShopBot = Pinewood Derby!

Ran this one for a local fellow who was not to adept with hammer and saw. Of course the Pinewood Derby was only a week away from the time he dropped it off to me and the time he picked it up. As luck would have it we are up to our ears in work right now... however, whenever I get the chance to try something new, I jump at it.

The kid gets the priveldge of trimming some hanging wood with an exacto knife, sanding and painting.

By the way. It made the weight restriction coming in at 4.7 ounces!

I went to the Pinewood Derby this morning. The kid won best of show and his tank came in 3rd place in the races. I told him to graphite the wheels but he didn't listen. The judges made him remove the gun tube during the race. They stated that the added length gave him an unfair advantage.

Last year I made a car that was actually disqualified because the wood that I added on was not purchased through the Pinewood Derby Company. I added to the pine bolck using my own pine. They told me that if wanted to do that I had to purchase an additional block and use that.

Next year I am going to make a 57 Chevy Hardtop and name it Christine. When the track catches fire, they'll know who was responsible!!!
