This brings to mind an old carpenter I knew who worked on military ships during WW2. He had an acronym which he pronounced very much like a Bronx cheer. He wrote it out for me as FTFPTM. He said it commonly appeared on blueprints sent out from headquarters to repair facilities in the field. The guys in headquarters knew full well that they didn't know the details of a ship half-way around the world. FTFPTM stood for "File To Fit, Paint To Match".

I wonder if some of these acronyms are necessary for woodworking. I also wonder if some of the ladies who have viewed this thread are impressed. Don't get me wrong folks...30 years ago I was a sailor and for the majority of my working career I have worked construction so there isn't an abuse of the English language that I haven't used, heard or that would even shock me. I am known to use graphic language but never around a lady.

I'm just wondering if your wives and daughters think we need to publicly list some of these acronyms? The stars don't really fool anyone or make the words more acceptable do they? Ya'll let me know if you would prefer me to dump this thread and we can start over or if it should stay as it is...
