That also looks very nice, Greg! It's sometimes difficult to cut a serif font and keep the little pieces whole without chipping, so good job on that.
Did you use a 1/8" bit on that? What feed...
Very nice! Looks like you're getting a really clean bottom on those trays and pockets. What bit are you using?

The color is beautiful, Jim - beautiful!

I'm kind of like Jim - screws mostly, homemade clamps, and a handful of fixtures for the light production items.
David
Ughhhhh! Never like hearing about an instrument being damages, especially one you built. Glad you have it on the path to recovery.

I have greatly improved not only the process but the speed at cutting Longworth chucks so I thought I'd do another video. When I first cut these chucks they were taking about 16 minutes per disc...
The best I've seen is Lars Christensen.

Another good looking build, Jim! How long did each take to cut - body and neck?
David
Why is he selling this? Does it have issues, has he outgrown it, is he not using it, etc.?
David
Looks great, Mathieu! I have built one acoustic guitar and have started on the 2nd but a ukulele is on my bucket list of builds.
David
Rigid as it needs to be for what...? It looks like a lightweight machine but that doesn't mean it won't cut the things shown in their promo video. But it probably does mean that you won't be able...
That's really progressing well, Jim. I like the idea of using lesser woods for testing. When you're finished with them you can hang them on the wall for good ambiance in the shop! :)
David
Very nice, once again, Jim! One of these days I'll build an electric... maybe. ;)
David
Nicely done, Jim!! Where did the weight end up on this guitar? If it's Spruce it must be on the lighter side of most Telecasters.
Building an electric is on my bucket list but it's pretty far...
Do you have a planer, Bill? How about a jointer? Either of those will work. A drum sander is nice but not necessary. Matter of fact, you can use your CNC to surface the Walnut. I've done that...
I would just mill and glue my own. That way you'll get exactly what you want. If there's a sawmill close to you then you'll probably get a better price than going to a lumber yard. I buy unsteamed...
You can just set Z 0.020" lower than normal to cut the pockets deeper (or whatever you need). That will keep you from having to make any changes to your drawing, unless you want the changes so you...
Assuming you're placing the dots in the traditional location, center of the fingerboard between strings 3 & 4 on their respective frets, the strings shouldn't be in contact with the markers. If you...
I can't see it being a problem if the inlay is small, Jim. My preference is to use wood or shell for inlay, though.
Photos? Can't wait to see what you come up with and how it progresses.
David
Victoria, can you post a photo of the area you're cutting? I work on guitars, am building them when I can get shop time away from my regular work, and have played some dulcimers in the past. But...
Winston Moy seems to get along just fine with his Shapeoko, even cuts brass and aluminum.

Almost three years ago, at age 63, I built a beast of a CNC router. My plan is to use it for a long, long time. Buy the mill.
David
Now that's a definite improvement, Gary! Good job.
David
I'll say it again - pretty neat setup, Gary! I like the feature set on this, good job all the way around.
