I don’t use metric really but I’m certain the manufacturers I like make metric tapes. Tajima is my current favorite for sturdy tapes and for a more delicate lightweight tape I use BMI.

Start checking electrical components until you find the failure source. I’d take a look at the capacitors, fuses and breakers first.
I would check to see if it turns over manually (with the electrical locked out) maybe something is jammed or broken.
Personally I would be tempted to take them out, flush and repack them. The grease is probably 20-30 years old, so it can’t hurt.
The best thing about old heavy machines is that when you set...
It’s worth adding Japanese industrial machines as well. The Marunaka super surfacer just impresses the heck out of me, every part is nicely made and made of cast iron or aluminum. Nothing flexes,...
I agree with Joe on going to sealed bearings. Without a manual or stamp I would be inclined to use the Hofmann spec. German machinery manufacturers tend to be very specific about the lubricants and...
I would stick to the grease that Kölle recommends and the bearings as well, they knew what they were doing when they designed and built the machine. Not sure what utility it would be to reduce the...
I have a few machines running on an RPC and a few others with (now) built-in VFD’s. I don’t mind either approach but lean heavily toward the VFD now for the ability to program in things like the...
I like metric for machinery but dislike it strongly for building anything around human proportion.
I fitted rubberized foam blocks into a tool chest. Works great.
I had trouble finding capacitors in the right size that would fit in the peckerhead. Ended up buying replacements from
SCM.
Baltic birch is true veneer core and so it is more rigid. I had a veneer job yesterday and we used plycore MDF on the recommendation of my friend and it went well. I plan up use that next time, it...
It’s very unlikely that you will be able to acquire hinoki in lumber form. I would consider other options for this project.
Kelvin makes sense, both Celsius and Fahrenheit use water as their standard. The metric system is great for the fact that the standards can be tested as opposed to needing to be stored somewhere. ...
Keep fighting the good fight!
Mitutoyo please and thank you.
Much prefer SAE.
Let’s not forget that it’s folks like Rich, investing, that allow folks who can’t afford to purchase a home the ability to rent one. That only happens with an investor risking their capital. ...
That’s called a wash-sale, I believe you have to wait 30 days before purchasing the same stock if you want to claim the loss.
Here’s how I do it. The side seams are hidden in the chamfer.

You all should move to NJ, property taxes to your heart’s content and then even more.
I use push button controls with a VFD. The controls are momentary buttons. I added an E-stop also which stops the drill in a hurry and locks out the vfd for safety until it is cleared.

I believe so, a quick look over at Wolf Automation showed one iirc.
I use a hitachi WJ200 drive on two machines, great drive. Easily programmed.
Every sector seems to have its day in the sun and it’s often spurred by unusual events. With regard to who is correct; Buffet is a dividend/growth investor, so he’s picking with that metric as some...
