Tobacco, too -- though we bought it with whisky. Not sure who got the dirtier end of the stick on that one...
A few thoughts:
1. Even with CV, things today for kids are a heck of a lot less traumatic than they were for probably any generation that came before them.
2. Kids are tougher than many people give...
I haven't read the thread, so I don't know whether this has been mentioned yet, but somewhere I was reading that the authorities may decide they want to "titrate" or "throttle" the spread of...
Huh. I feel left out, because I did the survey online and it went without a hitch. I guess I'll have to consult my dictionary next time. What's "pedantic" mean?
I also have the same saw. I've used blades up to about 3/4" or 7/8" on it, just using the factory spring tension gage, and it seemed to work fine, so I didn't break out the precision instruments....
I also carry one in my boat so that next time, maybe just maybe, I won't have to hang my head in the pitching, rolling, yawing bilge for 2 hours 30 miles offshore removing the raw water pump and...
I like 'em, too, and never had a lick of trouble with one.
This stuff is funny ... several years back, everybody said they were great, now apparently the 'correct' answer is that they stink, 10...
Bruce, I for one would be interested in seeing your project ... I love mahogany and the way it works by hand or machine...it's just a delight to deal with IMO...I just wish it didn't cost so much.
It doesn't matter whether the wood is kiln dried or air dried. The problem is that it changes with seasons and wood moves as it gives up, or takes in moisture. It gets wider across the grain when it...
I'd use SOOW.
Some use water, some use diesel fuel, some use an emulsion of both or other oil/detergent emulsions ... I believe the biggest reason is to keep sap from building up on the blade as fast.
Just don't use it to measure the length of your Plancks!
This thread is useless without VIDEO!
If the kerf is closing on the blade while I rip a board, I will sometimes stop the cut, then reverse the board and cut from the other end. You need to be careful when the new kerf meets the old kerf,...
If it's over 14 psi, you'll need to have a licensed operating engineer. Prolly should also stay away from softwoods. ;-)
Would a standard tomato paste can work? Dimensions are pretty close: 2-3/16" diameter x 3-3/8" long
Lehigh Abrasives
I agree with Jamie. Unless you're ripping heavy stuff all the time, there's not much to be gained from a bigger motor except feed rate. So you spend 15 minutes/day ripping instead of 7 minutes/day....
Thank God for hall monitors.
Waaaaaaay too many people walking around without legitimate hall passes!
Thanks for sharing, John.
I have some parts for a Linn bandsaw mill that I bought -- still need to fab the mill -- and the way they tension the blade on that mill is with a hydraulic cylinder with...
I'm surprised to hear these gigantic conference tables are made from solid stock. I would have expected them to be made from plywood, with some solid on the edges.
So long as the error introduced isn't more than, say, half of a tenth (.00005") per furlong, everything should be fine. :D
You sure about that? My 80-gallon model couldn't have been 300#, I don't think. At any rate, me and another guy moved it as far as we needed to on its pallet...
Does it smell like bourbon (or vice-versa) when you cut it? That would clinch the ID for me...
