Coming from a family of electricians, I grew up using Milwaukee. However, they had a few years in the early 2000's when they had battery troubles. So I tried Makita, and have not regretted it.

Dakota has a huge selection of hardwoods and sheet goods. However, their shipping/receiving and accounts receivable departments really struggle.
I have an Oliver 15" spiral head, and love it. $2699.99.
You can use a bench top planer, but you'll have to baby it. Very shallow cuts.
Try contacting Harvey. They built that saw, and probably still have a fence system that will fit it.
