A chap purchased a dibber (or if you prefer a dibbler) some time back and recently rang me to make a complaint. Naturally I was concerned as I feared it had somehow broken.
However, he complained...
Sorry, just noticed this when looking over some of my activities. I get my "Secret Compartment Kits" from Mayama Gems in Myaree Western Australia. Cost, including G.S.T. is $2.01 each.
I have been making magnetised needle cases for a couple of years with great success and previously posted a photo in this forum. The kits are readily available here in Australia as "Secret...
Hi Len,
The rare earth magnet is placed at the bottom of the base cap. The hot melt glue is then dropped on top of the magnet to approx. two thirds of the depth of the cap. That thickness ensures...
Hi John,
Yes, they are threaded at the top, very easy to turn and easy to
assemble. Just have to have a steady hand when directing hot melt glue
into the base cap to hold the magnet in place.
I spent a little time in the shed today and made a few magnetic needle cases which are very popular with the embroidery ladies in my area.
I glue a 6x3mm rare earth magnet in the base which allows...
Hi Dick,
One of our top woodturners in Australia, Hughie Mackay, who is also a contributor to Sawmill Creek gave this description of "Dead Finish" to this forum in 2012. "Here it is a desert...
I have been quite busy making magnetised needle cases for members of the local embroidery club.
They have a 6mm x 3mm rare earth magnet in the base cap and are very useful for picking up dropped...
What a delightful result Leo. I have not been on Sawmill Creek for some time and have missed seeing your wonderful creations. Well done!
A subdivision of land a few miles from me required 27 Osage Orange trees to be cut down and subsequently mulched. The landowner lost my number after promising to keep me some. A few months later he...
Magnificent result Dennis - well done!
I love "Tasmanian" (correct spelling) Blackwood. Tasmania is only a small
island off the Australian coast but has some great turning woods, e.g.
Blackwood, Huon Pine, Blackheart Sassafras and...
The mandrel saver is one of the handiest items for pen making.
Less flex in the mandrel and therefore accurate results overall.
They are relatively inexpensive and well worth the outlay.
You can never have too much time to do woodturning.

I combine fishing and turning easily!
I take the boat out on a rough day and before long I have a chuck over the side.
That's a bit of sick Aussie humour.

Great work as usual Geoff ... well done!
Alan
Great work Pat! They all have their own beauty within
and you should be proud of your efforts.
Alan
Well that is certainly different - well done!
Quite a spectacular result ! Well done.
Alan
Nice work Leo !
It just goes to show what can be achieved when you
"Leave it to Beaver'.

Would someone invent a tree that grows pre-shaped bowls please !
Well done Toby ! Great result, love the grain.
Alan
Very easily done - - I wish you luck.
One of the turners in our club was working on a Coolibah Burl at home and got a little careless.
The jagged edges of the burl ripped into his wrist and left more than an orbital impression for
the...
