I'm really interested in this topic too. My son wants to try my tools, but I always find myself telling him their too dangerous.
I guess we really need a project to work on together. He could help...
Genius! I like the white plastic track too, looks like it would produce a smoother surface for the plane.
Cheers, Nicholas. It does the job better than I expected.
Thanks William. The 45 degree piece is actually planed to a slight wedge. It just pushes into a snug fit. Dowels would have been a much simpler solution!
You're spot on about the screw on the rear...
I'm just sharing because the wife doesn't care a jot, and I'm feeling accomplished :D
So I finally got my first hand plane to see what all the fuss is about. A No.4 Faithfull for about £25 / $34....
Thanks Curt.
Yeah, I've used my overhanging "router table" a couple of times now and I think I'd rather make the cabinet style you describe.
I'm amazed by the dust created when routing. It's a...
Thanks Brian. That's a great photo for dust collection. I'll have to make that too.
Last week I had a conversation about using a plunge router on small elements. Everyone offered great advice, from building jigs to making a router table.
I decided to make a cheap, overhanging...
For anyone still following this thread, I wanted to post my solution to this problem.
I decided to make an overhanging router table!
Sure, it needs to be raised manually with the plunge and...

Thanks Curt, that's really going beyond to help someone new. I appreciate it.
Unfortunately, that button is the thumb safety that needs to be pressed before the trigger works. It pops back out...
Lidl Parkside POF 1200 ... it has a depth lock, but not a constant power switch.
Thanks Curt.
I have a cheap Lidl Parkside router. It's a solid bit of kit, but doesn't have all the extras so it won't fit the Router Raizer.
However, I can just plunge it to the correct depth...
That video is great, thank you for sharing!
My router requires the power trigger to be held to operate, so I need to rig some kind of zip-tie plus another switch on the power cable for safety......
Thank you to everyone here!
I think it might be worth my time to eventually build an adjustable jig to hold small pieces, with a raised edge to guide the router.
Building a table router is also...
Hi everyone.
I recently got a new plunge router with an edge guide, but I'm not sure how to safely mill a groove in small dimensions of plywood.
I'd like to make a small tray, so I need to put...
Thanks for the welcome, Fred. Yes, I found the Neanderthal section - there's a ton of great information and skill there. One day I'd love to have a permanent workshop with a huge bench, but for now I...
Thanks @Lee @Julie,
I hope to learn a lot here at SMC.
Hello!
My name is David and I'm just starting out with woodworking.
I live in an apartment, so my projects are greatly limited by noise, space and dust collection. This means I mainly use hand...
