I use the barrel from a dead Craftsman shop vac. It's not as big as most but I like it that way. It uses less vertical space, it was free, and it's not too heavy for me to carry when it's full.
L'm surprised no one mentioned all the chunks that beat against your fan blade without some kind of separator in front of it.
Do you need all 40' of hose. If you can reach where you need to with less, then shorten the hose. That should help some. Why not do a portable setup for the vac/dust deputy and roll where you need...
You wouldn't have to be replacing all the air in your shop every 13 minutes if you could set up a duct to bring in replacement air in a location central to most of your machines. Instead you'd just...
If space for building a workshop is limited could you do a 2 story building? Put the heavy machinery on the ground floor and the lighter stuff and hand tools upstairs.
Air to air heat pumps move a large volume of barely heated air and would be likely to keep the dust airborn, where you'd be breathing it. If you have the option of putting a boiler in a separate...
Kudos to you on making a priority of becoming debt free, but with some creative scrounging you can probably start aquiring some things now. One example; Old dishwashers of the portable type can make...
I put together 2 plastic window well covers to make a shell behind the saw, then connected a 4" fitting for my dc hose. I added flaps the could hang across parts of the front and be moved as needed...
Get the Cantek if it's still available. Build a Thien separator for it and vent outside. You can keep the footprint to the diameter of the barrel you use since you won't have to have space for a...
What do you like about the Eurekazone system vs Festool?
Daughter in law's brother and his grandpa were checking out at Lowes. Her brother asks for the military discount since he's in National Guard. Gal at checkout asks Grandpa Ralph if he's in military...
I didn't know they existed till last week, when I came across them while looking for dust masks that wouldn't leave compression marks on my face after I took them off. As near as I can tell they...
After calculating the actual cubic inches of usable space in the various options I decided to leave the inside corner unused and built drawer units as close as possible on either side. Lazy susans...
The thing to remember with realtors is they don't care if you have to spend $50,000 to increase the selling price by $20,000. You may have lost $30,000 but they got the commission on the extra...
My workshop is in 1/2 our basement. We put RFH in the slab over 2" of foam. I love it! Since it's part of the house I can't tell what the heating costs for that space are, but I can tell you how...
