Wouldn't this be a "hybrid saw"? I usually think of contractor saws as the ones without a stand with a tiny table, designed to be carried around in the back of a truck. This one has a mostly full...

I meant using a spindle from a CNC machine to make your own slitting machine. Something like this one:

Blades have sold. Thanks all for the interest.
Had a few PMs come in, think I answered everyone. Let me know if you didn't get an answer and I'll try again!
Thanks David. What's the diameter on the Cole jaws and what's the length on that scraper? If you have a link to either of them that would work too. I have a Comet lathe so I want to see if that set...
I have one used Forrest WW2 10" 40 tooth standard kerf blade and one thin kerf blade. I got these in a batch of tools I bought from someone, and I already have plenty of blades. Asking $75 plus...
Vespel is definitely not a thermoplastic, and you definitely do not want to cut it with heat. I'd suspect the same with PEEK but I haven't tried that one.
I'd vote slitting saw. They get crazy...
Could you send a pic of the radiused square carbide tool? I'm not very familiar with AZ Carbide. Also, what size and how much are the Nova cole jaws (if you're willing to sell them without a chuck)?
Could you get a small VFD spindle from a CNC machine and bolt it sideways? They make all sorts of blade holders for machine tools (look for "slitting saws" for a start).
If you ever go for a hike in the woods, make sure to bring a pocket knife. That way, if you get lost, you can take out the knife and start sharpening it. Pretty soon, someone will come along to tell...
Hi David, any chance you have any carbide insert tools? I may be interested in a radiused square cutter if you have one.
Also, to save your sent PM's you have to check this little box:

I recently picked up one of the older Central Machinery 12" disc sanders from an estates sale for cheap. It has a weird, intense vibration for about a half second during startup. Once it's running,...
Dang, didn't know Boeing made saws now!
I've seen that one too- it was the Sommerfeld guy. I haven't tried it yet but it seemed like a solid idea.
Yeah, and I'd guess in this case you'd literally never hit the max current draw (startup transients aside). I'm not sure how much energy I put into cranking an adjustment lever, but it's nowhere near...
That's not a problem- one of these would do it fine:

Depends on how hefty you need your bench, but Home Depot has these that look decent:

I built a system based off that Wesley Treat video and have absolutely loved it. I modified mine a bit due to space constraints, but it's been amazing at keeping things organized. I wouldn't put the...
The AS method is a "how to set up your small 14" bandsaw for newbies" video. It's not supposed to the the bible on how to set up literally all bandsaws with all blades ever. Does it work for most 14"...
Dang, that's cool. No budget for it now, but it does look like I might be able to 3D print some of those.
An HRV (heat recovery ventilator) doesn't have a transfer membrane like an ERV (energy recovery ventilator), so it'll keep your heat but not the moisture or the fumes (as I understand it). Being in...
There are some seriously worrisome articles about Temu. I'd consider trying the other ones, but there are some articles about how Temu keeps their prices so low. The articles online say it's a...
I had one of the smaller "high pressure inflators" and it burned out trying to top up four tires without letting it cool down... a bunch of smoke came out so I decided that one wasn't for me :)
If my knuckles are getting sore I just use my teeth, saves my fingers a lot.
Dang, for $50 you can get a rusted, broken contractor saw with no motor in my neck of the woods.
OP's saw is an easy $400-$600 in my area.
