Freud premier fusion. It's awesome and it's affordable.
Thanks, I'll get filing.
I chucked up a Freud 5/8 Forstner bit in my press today (which I rarely use) and noticed the bit was spinning wonky. On inspection I found that the shaft had a serious gouge and that metal had been...
For budget bits, I have had good luck with Yonico.
Voyager all the way or some other electronic method of speed control.
If anything, it just encourages safe practice, meaning that I won't take a shortcut and not adjust the speed where it should...
Good news is your jointer seems like it's working really well and making a flat face. Bad news is that the flat face is getting suctioned to the table of the planer. You probably putting your wood...
Awesome looking machine. If that thing had a carbide helical head it would take a year to rotate all the cutters :) How is setting the knives on that beast?
Several people have asked this but I'll repeat it: What is the thickness of the riving knife compared to the blade?
If it doesn't have a riving knife I would leave it alone and buy a new grizzly if you are on a budget.
Saw blades may not be perfectly flat. I use a flat plate for set up, I think infinity tools makes it. https://www.infinitytools.com/10-sanding-discs-with-5-8-arbor
I have the ETS EC 150/5 and it works really well. Can't even tell a sander has gone over the board. Bottom line is that it's remarkably effective and pretty quiet as well.
Pass on it. There is a reason you have never heard of it.
My sympathies and I hope you recover as soon as possible.
Do not sharpen your own saw blade. Clean yes. Sharpen no.
When I find myself saying "I could use that one day for a drawer pull..." That's when I know it's time to start throwing the scrap out.
You have a sharpening system it seems.
A purchased cheap router table will be a headache. I was given as a gift a Craftsman router table that was big and had all the features but they were so poorly executed (warped aluminum table,...
Condon Lumber in New York sells tons of clear vertical grain Doug fir. I bought an 18 foot long piece once there that I wanted to make a piece with lots of sequential matched panels.
I don't think...
That's a shame. Please post some pics after your visit.
It's woodworking but it's just not what I would want in my garage.
I agree Simon, there is a lot of innovative and just non-standard technique in FWW that makes it interesting to read.
FWW is still good, if anything they keep adding new sections to the print version.
FWW greatest advantage is the photography and the diagrams, it blows everyone else away. Their website has some...
Carbide profiles are brittle and any nicks in the edges may telegraph on to your project.
Also, the price is absurd. John L. above is right, 5 bucks a bit would be ok if the profiles are in good...
Is that a countertop?
Buy the best you can buy and buy what makes sense.
I don't think anyone here is advocating that everyone should buy a Martin slider :)
