Maybe try some woodburning patterns on the outside and rim areas. But only to a minimal.
For an everyday budget, finger-jointed pine or Douglas fir are solid options. If you can swing the cost, hardwoods like cedar, cypress, or white oak are better in the long rn.
I'm trying out the cozy and vintage themed wood pieces and I was just wondering what typical product combos you guys use for a solid rustic finish? Thanks in advance!
For precision work like that, you really can't beat a good Japanese pull saw.
Personally, I've found spline-backed saws like the SUIZAN Japanese Hand Saw 9 1/2 Inch Dozuki Dovetail ideal for...
Sharing big video files privately can definitely be a hassle. A private YouTube channel is a solid way to go - easy to link without size limits while keeping it locked down. Google Drive is another...
Aside from water-based polyurethane, you can opt for conversion varnish, hard wax oil (I've used ones from Rubio Monocoat and Osmo and they apply easily with low odor compared to varnish/lacquer), or...
Chocolate turtles sound simply delicious! I've never attempted them but have always loved eating them.
As for me, I've always loved baking bread so I won't buy from bakeries anymore.
Hey there, I switched to an EcoTank model a couple years ago and so far, so good. The ink reservoirs are massive compared to standard cartridges so it lasts a rally long time before it needs a...
Hi Jack, I've had great luck with the General Tools pinless meter. It gives instant readings without damaging the wood, and has different settings for various species. But if you want the most...
Appreciate you bringing those particular gloves to my attention! Costco isn't normally on my radar for that kind of specialized winter accessory but seems they have a compelling product.
Going down to a 1/16" bit allows for tighter curves and finer features that really make projects pop.
Just make sure to take it slow and easy since those tiny tools are fragile. I'd skip the...
Wow, I love the minimal aesthetics of this clock!
I wish I can craft something like this someday.
I have been maintaining a couple of guitars as well, and for the neck, I'd suggest sticking with either lemon oil or a light mineral oil.

herbs like rosemary, thyme, and roasted chicken!
It's become a daily habit on the way to work or during my down time. Around 1-2 hrs a day 😅
Going with pre-finishing the panels is a good idea for a clean finish. Once they've cured, you can gently cover them with low-tack painter's tape and paper for protection during the final spray. This...
This mural idea sounds incredible!
For your wood choices, I'd recommend mixing softwoods like Pine for wider grains and hardwoods like Oak for tighter grains. These woods react amazingly to this...
Based from using SketchUp several times for small projects, I'd say stick to the actual thickness of your plywood (0.708"). This will help you achieve the most accurate and error-free build...
Given your interest in compatibilitty with a 3M PPS and your needs for waterborne finishes, I recommend this HVLP conversion spray gun from Fuji - the Fuji Spray 2203G Semi-PRO.
Its HVLP tech is...
Since you work more often with exotic and dense woods, I'd say a mid-sized gouge, something around a 1/2-inch spindle gouge would work. It will give you the control and the room to efficiently remove...
The TB111 has a minimum temperature threshold. Since it's the winter season, the glue will tend to finish white after setting. If you notice it turning white once dried, that's a sign it's too chilly...
General Finishes High Performance Flat Out Flat or Satin Water Based Topcoat
These don't finish with nasty white streaks. If you want that super matte finish, the Flat Out Flat variant is a great,...
