Woodturning sculpting...
I Would like to share something you don’t see often.
It’s a called a viewing stone or scholar stone. Japanese and Korean craftsman have been producing this unique and very interesting way to...
I would like to suggest you look for a twist on the base. I had a laguna saw that had a nasty vibration sitting in one spot but ran smoothly in another.
My remedy was to shim under the base on one...
Thats how I remember it.
Figured wood wasn’t separated from the lifts to charge more. It’s actually fine with me I’ve had my share. I do occasionally look for quilted maple boards. Sometimes I see...
I made this cd cabinet for a woodworking competition some years ago. It wasn’t highly figured but the wood was hard, heavy and tight. Very challenging to plane. I chose the board for its ultra white...
I’ve heard maple is good for making this stuff called paper. :)
I also use west systems epoxy my can says 5 to 1 ratio. Some years ago I call west systems and asked if 5 to 1 ratio could be measured by weight. The tech said yes.
I have a small digital scale and...
I use a Tormek for shaping and sharpening my carving gouges. It true about the stone will leave a hollow grind. It’s not the final process the hollow grind makes it easier for me to get the chisel...
Is it weird that I like the keep hands clear sticker and want to put it on a hat. :)
I think my friend Rick Potter has one of those saws they are very neat.
Good Luck
Make them thicker somewhere between 1 3/4 and 2 inches thick. That’s my suggestion
Good Luck
I would like to share my tablesaws outfeed . It’s a second saw top. I use the throat plate for the router when needed.
The tablesaw lives at the back of the shop where fans pull sawdust into a...
It could also be a testament to your skill to cut accurate tight fitting joinery. Comparing a door to a stationary object it’s a bit of a stretch.
I thought of something I would like to...
Well that’s great I can see your pics and understand. Could it be the joinery is holding it together?
I’ve made planter boxes too I don’t remember using any glue they held together fine. They held...
I don’t remember them having a online store. They are a saw service they sharpen most anything.
If your looking for a particular blade you gotta call them.
They make very nice welds too.
Good...
These guys have a good selection of Resaw blades except the laguna blades. They carried the Lenox woodmaster 1.3 and 2 th. Kairos is the name. They will make up a blade while you wait....
Have you thought about cypress for that outdoor project. Should be plenty of it in Florida the cypress we have on the west coast everyone calls cedar its pretty easy to work and bends great. Not sure...
I’ve not had good results with titebond 3 outdoor with curved lamination glue up.
Are you saying titebond 3 is the only thing holding your planter together? No fasteners or mechanical advantage...
Think of silicon as a gasket to keep water out not so much a adhesive. Outdoors build should have tight joints that gives it strength draw bore or big ugly screws.
Water is the enemy of outdoor...
There’s another glue option for outdoor wood projects that’s not often talked about. Silicon caulk and polyurethane caulking. I discovered it from my roofing days doing repairs. Polyurethanes bond on...
Thanks Jim and everyone else for the kindness.
I do appreciate it.
I made this for my Daughter in-laws ashes she passed just before Christmas several years back.
Its maple burl shell that slides over the container.
It took forever to get her ashes. It been a...
Very cool cat table I like it.
I would also like to thank you for not boring us with pics every time you cut the wood.:)
If that were my saw I’d bash it good for doing that.
Miter saw are cheap compared to working with a corked finger or two.
Little bit of sawstop logic
Good Luck
Here’s my advice regarding jointer knives.
It’s not a machine for cleaning dirty wood.
Instead of taking many many small passes try taking one bigger bite. Saves wear on knives
I change my...
