If I remember correctly Dave gives the option of forward or reverse turning with his hollowing rig. Might not hurt to call and talk with him to be sure.

As for mounting your blanks in your chuck, Check the Jaws on your chuck I believe you will find that they have a beveled edge. If so you need to make your tenon beveled also. Another point to make is...
