The glue is probably respnsible for your problem. Some of the glues use formaldehyde as a polymerizing agent, not as much as in the past but it's still there in many laminated products.

It's rockin' and rollin' down here in Atlanta right now. The building where I work is shaking from the thunder - doesn't happen often as this place was originally a poured-in-place parking deck from...
I had to vote both because round and flat work all come out of my shop, but turning really is my main interest. Bowls, hollow forms, pens, etc., pretty much in that order.

A few former Ponders from the Southeast got together over lunch at Georges Deli after checking out the deals at the HH tool sale this last Saturday. The crowd was smaller than I've seen in the past,...
It's a different approach to similar forms. A lump of screaming hot glass on the end of a blowpipe will focus your attention just like a big bowl blank spinning on the lathe will. I did a lot of...
Those of you who know me might remember that I'm primarily a turner - up until now turning wood. I decided to try my hand at something a little different for a change. It's great fun and quite a...
Hi Ken
I've been out of pocket for a while. You folks have been in our thoughts, though. I'm glad to hear the good news! Thanks for the update. Here's to a speedy recovery and no more problems....
I hunted all over for palm wood last year when I was in Florida, everybody thought I was nuts. Not to say that they were wrong, mind you. I did finally get a chunk from a chainsaw carver in...
So far it's only got a single coat of Watco Natural on it. I'll probably add another couple of light coats and then buff it out on the Beale bufer. That's my basic finishing protocol for most of my...
I picked up a piece of black palm at the WW show in Atlanta last week and had a shot at turning a couple of very small bowls. They're only about 2.75 inches wide. It's interesting stuff, I'd like...
I try to get some Anchor Seal onto green wood as soon as I can. I rarely have time to rough turn blanks, so the pieces have to hold up until I get to them - usually a loooong time. I've found that...
I'm just getting the one I got from Mark set up, looks like a handy tool. I played around with saome of my older kitchen knives on Sunday, they're seriously sharp now. I already have multiple...
As a result of the get together over at Mike Johnson's place this weekend there was a disucssion of magnolia as a turning wood. Even though I've been in a haze from eating too much of Mike's killer...
I've got an alert for anyone coming to the Atlanta WW show this weekend that might need to come up I-85/I-75 Northbound through downtown. They're closing part of the freeway for bridge construction...
I'll see you folks at Mike's for lunch. The line to get into the show on Sat can be a long one, so I'm thinking about doing the show on Friday instead. I live close enough to where it's not a big...
Bill's right, beware of wet wood and bowl blanks. I've been turning for about 5 years now. 3 lathes, a new truck and a new chainsaw (last month). Big wood pile. Big compost pile. More fun than...
I did my sharpening by free-hand for a long time, then I bought a Wolverine jig and a Varigrind. It has proved to be a great investment. I haven't used the TruGrind, but I think that most of these...
So far I like it here and it will be one of my 'homes'. I'll probably roam around a bit more for a while, though. When I've got roaming time, that is.

Is there any way to update the informatin that I supplied when I registered for the forum? Adding my last name would bring me back into spec.
Thanks

I've been called 'Creaky' several times lately, though I think (?) it was supposed to be a reference to my knees. HHmmm.....
