I was figuring he might be in error on that...It does sound odd. I have just got one reply from him. I was going to ask him to double check that also.
Were the Laguna saws in 1993 as well thought of as the ones now? Reliability, ability to resaw well, etc? What if I were to need parts? Should I be thinking a new Grizzly for about the same money?
Going to look at a Laguna LT18 Bandsaw owned by a hobby woodworker. What should I look for when inspecting the machine? What differences would there be in a 1993 vintage versus todays version of the...
I have 2 Forrest TK WWII, 1 in 30T and 1 in 40T. I also have 2 FKW WII in 30 and 40 tooth. I just keep one of these in and rotate when they need cleaned. Have a Freud Rip, never have put it on. So...
Well, I went back yesterday and reset the knives using the Powermatic jig that was sent with the jointer. As I mentioned, this setting was lower than what the knives were currently set. Seems to be...
Just got around to changing the knives on my Powermatic 209 20" planer. Purchased it about a year or so ago. The original knives were set well and the planer has done well all along. It came with an...
I took over my 3 car garage as my workshop. Milled some kiln-dried ash for a workbench. Measured with moisture meter in 3 places on each board at that time the moisture reading and marked on wood....
Rick, a very nice bench you can be proud of. I started milling my top this weekend. Have a long way to go!
Jack, same here with the plans. I have a set from a Shopnotes mag, but yours looks awfully sweet. That was to be one of two of my big projects this winter. I have quartersawn red oak purchased and...
John, I have Shwarz's workbench book. That's what got me to thinking about building one. Just gotta decide which one...Now that I have some wood for the top, I need to finalize on the bench style.
I have a very good supply of nice red oak, flat sawn and quarter sawn. I was figuring on doing the base in that. It is mostly 6/4, so I'll have to glue up the legs etc. If I use a skirt? on the top,...
Six feet will actually work well in my space. Need to figure out which style bench I would wanta make. What would be a good thickness for the bench? My bench now is 2 1/2" hard maple. Just will be...
Picked up about 80 lb ft of nice clear ash. Saw only 2 knots in all the boards. It ranges from 5 to 8 inches in width. All boards are 76 inches long. Everything is 8/4 to 10/4. All is Kiln dried at...
Makes me chuckle everytime I read that excerpt by Smalser! I used his list almost as a shopping list over the last couple years. I have a "thing" for chisels! I've just about wiped out the 1st and...
I just put a coating on the 2 bread boards. The mineral oil is a lot thicker than I expected. Do I need to cut the Mineral Oil with something before wiping on. I was figuring on a finishing schedule...
Thanks for the answers. I'll get a bottle tomorrow! I have been using General Salad Bowl Finish, thought I might try something different. Just wanted to get the correct stuff!:)
Thanks! I just wasn't sure when I read it's use! Ok now, I rub these cutting boards down with a laxative until they don't really take anymore...and then I give to my friends to eat off of. Right?:D
Is this the right Mineral Oil for Cutting Boards? What I find at the Drug Store and grocery store say to use 2-3 Tbsps. for use as a laxative! Is this the stuff I want for a finish on a cutting...
Paul, I have given much thought to doing something similar with my walls. Is your T&G. Got any pics to share?
I really like the Rockler switch also! I have them on 2 router tables. Very convenient, just bump with knee and off goes the router!
wow!!!!!!!
Now that is just beautiful! Great work!
Agree with all of the above...I have that model planer now. Mine is about 2 years old. I love it...And if it is indeed in good shape, I think the price is a good one.
