I still have several Rigid shop vacs from Home Depot and I've beat them up a lot through the years. Hard to beat for the money.
I also have a nicer Fein that I use with my cordless rechargeable...
5% is very reasonable. I’d expect 10-15%. Shop fox raised prices 30% in the past 18 months.
Oliver is made mostly by the same company that is making a majority of the machines. Not a lot of difference in Jet, Powermatic, Baleigh, Oliver, Grizzly, Laguna if they are made in Taiwan.

Lots of name brand calipers aren't what they use to be.
I bought the Quinn digital calipers from Harbor Freight. $49 and nice calipers for the money.
Looks like a nice machine for the hobbyist or part timer. Pricing will be key. 33" belt is a bit weird. Seems like they could have stretched the width to get it to that 36" mark. But 33" is more...
If I was starting all over again, I could see myself buying the Wahuda for the 2 speed gearbox. It reduces tear-out by slowing it down under 20 FPM.
Don't think either is a bad choice. Coin toss...
Hi Lou,
I never rotated the cutters and still had a fresh edge when I sold it. It was getting a bit noisier and not as smooth so I was probably due for a rotate. But even on the first edge, was...
I had the Cutech 13" with snipe lock and carbide tips. Was a great planer for the year + I had it and no issues. Sold it off recently to make room for a new Grizzly 12" jointer / planer.
Grizzly does have some of the lowest prices on shipping heavy machinery. Some manufactures absorb a portion of the cost of shipping, and make it up on volume.
I just got a 12" jointer planer...
Ask yourself what's the most important thing in your shop for the next 18-24 months.
If it's shop space, then I'd say list it and see if you can get the most money for it in today's market.

I have the Quinn digital calipers from Harbor Freight. Overall, I like them and seem like decent quality for ~$50. HF has improved their quality over the last few years and I'm no longer as...
You have to keep checking weekly, or even daily for places like Grizzly if you're in the market.
They had a year end flash sale last month. The 20" Southbend helical was on sale for $4500 for a...
Could prices eventually come down? Yes, but we’re talking 18-24 months, and it’s unlikely.
You would need high inventory levels to generate price discounts and have excess raw materials to...
I was looking at that planer for the longest and didn’t pull the trigger. Grizzly had it for $3499 new for quite awhile and that wasn’t including occasional coupons to get it closer to 3k. Now...
I just bought Grizzly’s 12” jointer planer with their new V helical head. Still in the process of getting it set up, but managed to get a few boards though the planer for test cuts. I took all the...
Prices just got raised again this week. I was thinking of their 12" jointer planer for the longest, and bought at 3300 last month. They just raised it to 4k a few days ago.
Their Southbend 20"...
I guess that's why a 3 hp / 3 phase machine can out perform a 5hp single phase belt. Direct drive muscle.
I wonder if you'd be better off replacing the motor with a ~5hp single phase? 3hp does seem a tad light for a 12" machine. A good rotary phase convertor is ~$600-700 on the lower end to handle a...
I have the supermax 25 x 2 dual drum. Once you have it dialed in, it’s pretty smooth and yet to adjust the drums again. The clip system works fine and I like it much better than having to tape the...
I have a Supermax 25 x 2 5hp. It does not suck and have been happy with it. Not perfect and a few quirks, but then again I paid 2700 new for it. Now it’s 4k with current increases.
Nothing...
I checked out the woodmaster online several times. Seems like a nice American made machine. I passed on the 21" planer because it can only handle stock up to ~ 6.5 thick. Not often I'll need...
Most brands only have a 1 year warranty. Grizzly sells a ton of planers. You use to be able to get their 15” helical on sale for 1800 or so, but now after Covid and price increases, most 15”...
Nice straight grain. I’m sure you’ll find some use for it.
I've been using Klingspor papers. I buy the bigger rolls and just trim the ends down and it's less expensive than pre-cut. Usually don't have a problem with the ends ripping off.
