End grain ALWAYS with a tenon.
I don't think it helps prevent warping or cracking. IMO end grain pieces are less prone to warp or crack, they will "move" some but not as much as face grain pieces. ...

LOL, yep sometimes a good whack is all it takes.
Sounds like the brushes were stuck and that "whack" knocked them loose.
Glad you got it running again.
Thanks Thomas.
I use a homemade captured system and use carbide cutters, radius for the initial hollowing then a round one for cleaning up.
All of my hollow forms are end grain usually pith to...
Well Thomas I finally got around to trying my hand at turning a rectangular bowl.
I'll have to say it was a lot of fun and i'll be doing it again some day.
Thanks for the incentive!!

Been out of the shop for awhile. [Cataract surgery] But finally got some shop time in. I love turning hollow forms and vases.
I always use green wood and finish turn in one session. They will...
I'm not in mobile mode. I'm viewing the whole site.
I can see the attachments on Leo's repost, but still unable to see them on his original post.
BTW, I like the new ones better Leo!!!
I don't see it either. I get this. "Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"
I'm using Chrome.
Not found the first one yet. My spots where I usually find them are not producing so far. I think the recent Spring floods have washed all the spores away.
Looks like I will have to wait a couple...
Just giving you a hard time Eugene, if not for spell check I would be afraid to post anything. I had to Google "queue" lol.
Again, nice job on the salt and pepper mills, they are very nice!!
I thought you had made a too long pool cue.
Nice looking salt and pepper mills, I might have to put some of those in my "queue".:)
I have a few, not much of a semi auto fan but I do love me some bolt actions, revolvers, and single shots.
Here is one of my favorites. TC Contender 14" custom trigger work, muzzle brake, G2 counter...
Yep, I give everyone that purchases one of my bowls a printed handout on the use and care for it. It is to NEVER be put in a dishwasher or a sink full of water.
My bowls for the most part are...
Very nice Roger. That piece has a lot going on, figure, spalting and I see some chatoyance as well.
Also very nice form on an example of a Calabash bowl.
My thoughts exactly. Really light colored for "Black Walnut" unless it is mostly sapwood. Could be "English Walnut" I suppose but I have no idea what that lumber looks like.
I give it a big thumbs up Bob. Beautiful piece!!
Great looking boxes. Love those yo-yo's too!!
Oh wow, that is very nice!!
Bruce, you have many talents!
I like everything you do. Thanks for sharing!!
Moisture actually "triggers" CA glue to set.
But not sure about the slime.
I cant help you after the fact, but i've found that instead of trying to make the void vanish it is easier and more pleasing to the eye to make it stand out.
I also use coffee grounds [K cups] and...
Very nice!!
Good catch John. Believe it or not i've found that honey buns work great for enticing a racoon into a live trap.
Cotton wood and Yellow Poplar are both members of the Populus genus.
That said, Poplar is pretty soft and not very rot resistant. It does take stain well, and is easy to mill. With a good sealer on...
Looks like it's going to be a very nice bowl.
I have to wonder why you used a glue block instead of turning a recess on the bottom though.
I see what you did there Jason.;)
