To rip hardwoods I use the Freud 30T Glue Line Rip (Lm74R010) which gives very smooth edges and no tearout.
For cutting plywood I use the Freud LU80R10 Ultimate Wood/Melamine which gives very...
Todd, I live about 20 minutes away so I drive over and pick out all my lumber. In reading the online reviews, most are very positive about the quality of the wood selected and shipped as well as the...
Im usually only that organized when somebody else is paying for some really expensive wood, lol!
Probably why I’ve never seen anybody using it.
A local building inspector who is also a contractor showed me a post mounting option I had never heard of.
Slide the post inside a 2’ section of square channel steel so the wood is about 4 inches...

Ohh— thanks!
What was the original use for that beast?

Matthew, I think you should certainly insulate the walls and ceiling to lower your energy costs. I don’t see any point in having a drop ceiling of any kind. You can hang led light fixtures at any...
Jim- instead of ripping 2x4’s couldn’t you just turn them sideways to frame the walls?
Phil- when I use lacquer I don’t topcoat it with anything as it IS my topcoat. If my top coat is going to be poly, I seal the wood with my own sealer by mixing 1 part poly with 3 parts mineral...
+1 on these type of storage bins. They work best for me.
I don’t think you’ll have any problems with your design. The shelf should provide ample “rack-prevention”.
If not, can you add that steel connecting bar in the photo beneath the shelf?
Phil- I’ve had good luck with Deft lacquer in rattle cans.
I’m not sure how oily they are but as with any oily wood you first need to use an evaporative finish like lacquer or shellac as poly won’t “bond” with the oils in the wood.
What I do is wipe with...
+1 on the super light final pass- that always works for me.
Oil based poly tends to add an amber shade to wood, so your trim will look different. Water based poly adds no coloring.
Pine exposed to the sun here in Arizona takes time to darken but I really...
