I ran across a couple pieces of Jatoba 2x2x24 inches. They were a nice red color but when i riped them they were much lighter color maybe a very light color. Having never had any of this wood before...

I use nothing but a couple very light coats of rattle can shelac before trying wop on any sort of exotic oily wood.I have had to many times to redo finish that never drys.

I use wop as a finish on bowls for non food bowls. Ready to use wop Is getting more expensive all the time, I have a qt. of poly and wondering what the recipe is to mix my own wop.

I turned a pen the other night , very beautiful wood after wards I came down with a sore throat and a cough.It really worried me for a couple days before it cleared up . Has any one ever had this...

Love turning apple, I rough turn to the 10% thickness and a alcohol soak for a min. of 48 hours and wrapped in newspaper an set on a shelf to dry, usually about 2-3 weeks by checking the weight....

That is a PCC or precision combination chuck .My first chuck was one of those. Made in the UK, it worked but our scroll chucks of today are much better. Wallya
