Really nice Lee, thanks for sharing! This is also good inspiration for using up scrap materials as trays of this nature are always useful and worth having/giving to others.

Thanks again everyone!
Someone used the term "fingernail catch" to describe the slightest deviation between to adjacent boards... Even with cauls I have found it difficult to entirely...
Another vote for enjoying using poplar. I have found it to be very pretty (left clear or tinted), it easy to work with, and the pricing is attractive.
I'm at a stage of the learning curve...
This is wonderful, thank you everyone!
Jon E. - about moving too slow... This was my attempt to remedy that I thought I was going too fast in the past, so perhaps the happy medium is the ticket....
Thanks everyone!
Brian - do you mean to try reducing the shop vac suction a bit? I was just now reading that some felt that too much suction could result in swirls.
I also read some...
Please read before diagnosing... I have watched so many instructional videos, read so many threads and magazine articles, and continue to experience ongoing struggles with "swirls" or "pig tails"...
Thanks guys!
Our pups need to "graduate" in order to be rewarded with a more beautiful crate. Their first crate is a typical all-metal (available at most pet stores)... once they're "good girls"...
If I'm understanding correctly... In the case of the OP's design, the metal sleeve fits snugly inside the wooden 'jacket'... Without any adhesive at all, suction will want to keep those parts...
My mother recently progressed to needing a ramp on concrete steps at their house and went with the aluminum approach and has been very happy with it. Very solid, doesn't rust, looks nice etc.
I'm unfamiliar with this sort of work and would be interested to see any in-progress pics etc.
As in mostly built from odds/ends walnut scraps from around the shop.
Our mini-aussie shepherd (Daisy) joined the family 2 weeks ago and has a temporary metal crate that suits her current size. ...
Hmmm, I love the jointer to the left, but maybe I'm just used to it. My jointer is only 8" wide top, and partially nests, so I only need an extra 1/2 step to easily move past it, so it never...
I did exactly the same as Glenn and it's worked great.
I had considered the "remove the jointer fence when needed" route but felt that a key value of having stationary tools setup in a workflow...
If it's the same jointer as before, then this height has not changed... You once before raised the top surface of the table saw to be above that jointer... and now you're raising a new table saw top...
STP = Stone Temple Pilots... Great band back in my day ;)
Really appreciate that!!
The family ate around the table last night... I'm now entirely positive that food tastes better at a dining set that you built yourself.
Thanks guys! I agree... poplar can be sneaky good looking if you pick through the pile a bit. And I've been on a run of celebrating unique variations in lumber, so the fact that each chair has...
This is the first time I ever built a set of dining chairs. I now understand why chairs are so expensive - it's like building a more complicated table, but having to do many exactly the same.
...
Count me in as loving this piece of functional art.
Quick design question as I haven't worked with a magnet latch like that... Would the magnet be strong enough that it could be concealed under...
There's a ton of options for truss spacing - the truss manufacturer will beef up / design accordingly.
That said, they will have some "standards" to suggest, which will likely range from 2 foot...
For some unknown reason I decided to "design-on-the-fly" (as in no research, no drawings, nothing) a set of 5 chairs for the dining table in our sunroom. I wish I had added more 'tilt' to the...
I think this is what the op is referring to as Bill notes above. Try calling your local glass shop (if there is one)... I was pleasantly surprised by their capabilities and pricing around here, so...
Really fits in nicely especially with the feathering of the soil that you did. Looks like it was always meant to be there!
I may have missed it earlier - since you're building up the grade considerably, have you gone well past the actual building footprint before tapering back down to prevailing grade? (i.e., how are...
Wow, that is so nice, and I really appreciate the finished photography as well as in the in-progress pics.
Agree the stepped edge really is a show stopper - the one shot where you can see the...
