Thanks for all the suggestions. David's idea of adapting something from a dust collector may work, I think I found something I can fabricate.

I've been looking for an adapter to put on the back of a k40 type machine so you can hook up a vent pipe directly. I've seen guys showing what they made with their 3D printers but I don't have one so...
I'd use Titebond 3 as it holds up well in the outdoors.
Looks like that was a custom job intended for Pisa Italy. I'm sure they'll make it right but it is a pain having to wait so long just to get what you ordered to start with.
To prevent clogging, keep the cap off for 30 seconds to a minute or so. You can see the glue drain back into the bottle out of the tip (hint: watch the tip, not the bottle). I've done this on both my...
That's a good looking table Bruce. I love the use of the old wood, it give the piece character right at the start.
Bottle stoppers are often thought of as "wine bottle stoppers" but they're more versatile than that. Mini stoppers are sometimes used for cruets with oil and vinegar. Flavored oils (the kind with...
That piece is absolutely awe inspiring.
That's a nice looking call Scott. They look like a fun project. I'll have to find an excuse to make one - or maybe the fact that they're fun to make is excuse enough.
That platter looks so good, both the figure and your turning, it'll be well worth the effort. When it's done, a piece like that deserves to be displayed along with the story of how it fought you all...
As Scott mentioned, try the course sea salt for grinders. Wally world has it but buy in a container you can see in, some "course" salts are not course enough. The course pink Himalayan sea salt is...
Nice shape and proportions. It does remind you of a honey pot from the Pooh stories but be sure you don't call it a pooh pot.
I don't do cereal so I'm not sure whats off the market but I know they've kept many of the early ones. As a kid, in the stoneage, I used to like Shredded Wheat. Not the mini frosted things that they...
Weebly offers your choice of free or low cost web sites. It's easy to use and you don't have to have your own domain, but you can if you want. My wife and I have been using it for a few months now...
I like it, the shape and all. A real case of the wood determining it's own shape.
Too bad it doesn't have more color.
I talked my grandson into making Christmas gifts for his mom and grandma. This was his first time at the lathe but I don't think it'll be the last. We used a poplar dowel to learn beads and coves...
Thanks for the replies, you guys are terrific. I looked at hobbit house and you could all be right. Maybe, when it's done, I'll tell him it's red mahoganelm curuberry.
I'm making something for my grandson out of a block of mystery wood I bought at Woodcraft a few years ago. It was wax sealed and in the bargain bin outside. I can't figure out what species it is. The...
Let's not forget good old fashioned brake cleaner. I found it to be much faster than both acetone and mineral spirits.
These people obviously don't take care of their tools very well. Given that fact, I'd be leery about recommending walnut oil. I doubt they'd let it cure to become food safe and given that they make...
Nicely done. I love that you made the stand as well, a really nice touch.
Seeing those pictures I also thought of a heat problem while drilling. Another thing to check is a dull trimmer head. I had one that suddenly went dull and ruined so many blanks I almost stopped...
Leave most of the bottom unfinished to retain the smell. To renew the faded fragrance, about once a year or so, hit the unfinished area with a light sanding.
Beautiful work, just brilliant (as my grandfather would say). When I read the title I almost expected something about twinings blackcurrant breeze.
I'd love that! Add me to the list.
