As mentioned, I did these connections a few years ago. I used only the parts supplied with the saw. The difficulty was that the vacuum hose diameter was too small to fit onto the lower fitting. As I...
Before you return it - it's a great saw - I've had the same saw for years, and I'm almost certain that mine are Y'd into the vacuum hose. I remember the connection was a bit of a PITA, but the...
Ron Hock made O1 irons for both the LN low angle block and the low angle jack, and maybe others. I bought both the former from him before he sold the company. Nicer all 'round than the A2. I'd start...
I'd like 2 please. Thanks,

I have the little LV Preston reproduction. It's pretty wonky out of the box; twisted and non-planar sole. However an hour with a mill bastard file and some fine sandpaper will have it trued up...
I've seen several old tissue boxes that had no bottom; the "box" was simply a cover. You set the tissue box down and drop the wood cover over it.
GooGone works for most tape residue. Some require more elbow grease than others.
You guys aren't looking very hard. Crown has made a 4" sliding bevel for darn near forever. Cheap and utilitarian. Rockler, Woodcraft, Amazon, etc. Twenty bucks and up. Use your Google-Foo.

Great tool. Well machined, reliable, simple, easy to use, non-slip. Practically standard on thousands of Bridgeports and drill presses.
I've got one I bought new about ten years ago. For no apparent reason, I've never used it. I'll be happy to sell it yo someone who will use it. Ping me back offline at mapleleaf@cox.net.

Jason,
I bought 1000, 6000 and 13000 Sigmas from Schtoo Tierney many years ago when he was exporting from Japan. They are good quality and good value. LV doesn't show a 6000. The 13000 stone is...
Oh God, Zachary's Pizza :p And you'll get to watch a big slice of Berkeley mosey past as you chew. Enjoy.
Gary,
The following may or may not help, but here goes. I have an 18" Excalibur, which is a sterling piece of equipment, although I don't use it much. It came to me several years ago with stock...
Yes, it has to slide in from the far end. That only takes the first 10 seconds, again because you're not trying to align a bunch of individual fasteners and slots. Mine is configured so that the...
Steve's right; the OEM mounting system for the K3 auxiliary table is a PITA to mount and remove. The issue is that there's just too many fastener bits to deal with all at once when reattaching the...
Tallow is the traditional lubricant used in fab shops for aluminum. Comes in a cardboard tube, and you simply push some up and touch it to the slow moving blade for a second. It's cheap, and...
I have Hock irons in several Stanley shaves, and I like them. They are just about perfect for the non-adjustable shaves. But Ron makes a different, thinner blade for the adjustable mouth variants. I...
Ken,
I just reread Union's web page about new X irons. They're not .040 thick; they're .040 thicker than Stanleys.

I have an Excalibur, and the stock blade clamp was always a PITA. Sometimes it slipped, sometimes not. Fiddly to setup, and then you never knew what was going to happen.
I recently bought the...
FWW did an article about hidden magnetic catches awhile back. These are cheap, work great, are totally invisible, and are widely adaptable. This is my go-to catch for the kind of doors you're...
When I was growing up in California's Central Valley, "Taco Tuesday" was known as "Red's Tamale Day". Regional differences I guess.

Rain X works great on glass and goggles. Use it straight out of the bottle.
I have one of John TenEyck's horizontal router mortisers, and it's the cat's meow at a very reasonable price. It does everything I need including angled mortises. He doesn't advertise, but you can PM...
