The reason I added a shim ( cardboard one) was to get clearance for the depth adjuster post in the back. Set the shim over the hole, set the lever on top of the shim, and start the bolt , threading...
I placed a shim under the lateral lever, THEN screwed down the bolt...Checking on the way down how the cap iron fits...
I think mine is about the next "Type" newer?

The reason I say "1/4" turn....allows one to sneak up on that sweet spot.....better than doing full turns.
So...IF a full turn is too tight, or too loose....how would YOU adjust? Just a way...

Lever cap screw/bolt: should be tight enough that the lever snaps shut...any adjustments would be a 1/4 turn at a time...so that things that should move, do..things that should NOT move,...
