I just love this one. Simple, strong contruction. Great practice on dovetails. I think the traditional version of this is actually built with mortise and tenon, which would be stronger.

Well, see, junior, I can always count on you to make my day. ;)
A simple pre-drilled block the same diameter clamped to my work would be the ticket, I think! I didn't see those pics yesterday!!...
They do remove flesh. I'd say that you are probably tired/fatigued right now. You need to build up "muscle memory" of holding your fingers/hands/wrists firmly in the right positions for extended...
If you flatten more than a quarter inch or so, sometimes if the area that's farther away is farther "out" that the area that's "closer" you might not be able to get the blade to "register" to the...
Richard pointed out that you flatten "one inch back". From what I was taught, and believe me I'm no expert, that's alot. to achieve a "flat back to front bevel angle" you really only need a sliver...
If I was in the shop, yes. :)
But I'm not. :p
And I will give it a try when I get home, and can get some shop time. I was just wondering if there was some secret of nimh. Kids need to go to the...
If I could get into a drill press I'd be golden. (or a mill). Where I'm staying on center.
I think you may have nailed it, with the "progressive pilot hole". I'm thinking I'd have to pilot very...
Would there be any difference in methodology if I needed it closer to a machinist's level of tolerences? I mean the re-finding center, order of drilling, etc.
I must be daft.
I would like to create a hole and a counterbored top to the hole, but I'd like to do it in two steps without a drill press.
I have a bit and brace and an egg beater. The bit...

I might be mistaken, but the big advantage of a shoulder vise is the complete lack of any lead screws to interrupt your items being clamped. You can drop something pretty wide straight to the floor....
LOL! My Mother is Law was one of them!
Right! It would end up being like a steam dent repair, of course! Now it's making sense, the mechanics of the joint.

Is it necessary to plane off a bit like was described?
my memory is really failing or maybe I think I just have too many things on my mind. I am glad that it is pine. That makes me more hopeful of how I want to use it.
I wanted to know more about the...
I saw a planing video by Frank Klausz that I got from my local library. It was called "Hand tools, tuning and using chisels, planes and saws". I really enjoyed the video and learned a lot from it....
I'd like to know more about the Class With David. Could you give us a little word on how it went? Was it "by the book", if you will, or did he have tips and tricks up his sleeve?
I have read and...
Seems like a great idea. I would say you definitely have a problem. You seem to have committed to a "process". You will now have to use your invention, as it will be a "tool" that will need to...
Just thought I'd see if anyone would have anything to add to suppliers for 2 mm (2mm) clutch pencil mechanisms. I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to destroy old units!
Dan
I was wondering if someone knew of a supplier of clutch pencil mechanisms for 2 mm leads. Just the mechanism, not a kit, or pen blank.
Thanks.
Dan
One other thing...
Concrete, wood or other...Plus the learned skill of leaving your hands out of the way, one of us still has not yet mentioned feet. I had a chisel "score" my leather boots pretty...
I think that's about what thinking, at least along those lines. Well played!
Hmm...
Just once, and you will most likely never try it again.
said the man with nine fingers. (I really have 10, thank you).

IF THERE ARE NO PICS....IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
That is to say. If you don't post pics of the chisel soon. We must conclude that you have no chisel!
At least that's what I have been led to believe...
