Rod,
I'd forgotten about that style. I think I know what you're referring to... but do you have any pics by chance?
Julie,
I took a closer look at the Bora series. Didn't realize they had...
I'm looking at putting my TS (Ridgid 4512) on a shop-built mobile cabinet base. I've been looking at various different designs, and I'm pretty sure I'm well on my way down the path to 'paralysis by...
What about just pulling the iron from the #5 and dropping it in the #4? If you know the iron is sharp, and it's the same physical size...
Maybe 20-30 strokes on leather with green compound.
Pine and/or doug fir.
I've been going from an 8000 grit diamond stone to stropping... but even with a 25 degree blade in a Veritas LAJ I'm just getting powder off end-grain. Where am I going wrong?
Don't you mean "Jim"?
Unfortunately I don't have an extra just yet.
Got some pics from the seller of the piece he cut at the shop. The lines aren't as noticeable, but the cut wasn't quite as smooth as I remembered (go...

So why would it have given a clean cut at the seller's?
Hello all,
Picked up a new (to me) bandsaw today. Drove ~3 hrs there, loaded it up on a trailer and strapped it down and wrapped it in a tarp (also strapped down with ratchet straps, drove home...
There is a max amount for the flat hazmat fee, but you've got to be ordering some serious quantities (as far as individual use for small arms cartridges) to come anywhere maxing that out. I don't...
Tom,
I'm curious what you mean by "make your bench 4 hands high".
Where I grew up (cattle ranch in Nebraska), 'hands' were used to describe the height of a horse from the ground to the withers....
Had a nice long reply queued up last night, and then the forum software timed out when I went to post.
In addition to the reloading manuals that have pretty good tutorial sections (the...
I used these:

A person could probably DIY something similar for less $$$ if they had the time/inclination... I had neither, so I got a couple sets and...
Looks great Luke! 👍
I'm curious as to what people here think about the relative impact of something like the 'Unicorn' sharpening method on the edge durability tests?
IIRC some of the tests done on the Unicorn method...
That was kind of the rub, as far as I could see. The 'coarsest' rip blade that Highland offers for that saw is a 700mm (~27") 5 tpi... so I'm not sure how much different the experience would be...
I went about it slightly differently... got a TS55, after futzing around with an 'E-Z Smart' track and a Porter-Cable circ saw for years. Holy cow, night and day difference - and not just the dust...
How's the re-sawing with the smaller Blackburn frame saw compare vs. a continental style frame saw like the ones from Highland Woodworking?
I realize the one is purpose-built for re-sawing... but...
I've been pondering a similar project - I was wondering if ripping quarter-sawn sections from a wider board as mentioned, and then laminating those pieces into a larger block would work. Probably...
Just for the sake of discussion... if the whole thing is going to be captured inside a frame, what's the difference between say, six boards edge-glued with biscuits into one big panel, or six boards...
So... working on a new bed for the master BR, with general inputs from the wife as far as what style she wants (farmhouse-ish). I've got most stuff roughly worked out in my head, working on getting...
Something else to consider... most of the inexpensive non-inverter generators, i.e. the open-frame style... are gawd-awful noisy. As in, people the next block over will know you're running a...
'hydro batteries'?
I think you're referring to 'pumped storage'... Kinda like a battery ;)
