Apologies for this drift off topic.
Here on the west coast storm doors are seldom used but weatherstripping remains a primary concern.
For much of the mid-late 1900s interlocking brass...
Sorry Bill much of this is Greek to me. I'll look up Higbee and provide a few photos of the screw/worm gear.
Yes. The stop nut is almost 1/8" away from the stop post. I am assuming the tilt travel is restricted due to the poor teeth meshing on the shaft. Am I way off base?
Mike, the saw is a right tilt 2004 X5. The part number is 422-04-406-5001 identified as "tilt shaft w/worm incl". I just left the shop without a picture.
I may be going about this incorrectly....
In checking the 45-degree bevel on my Unisaw 36-R31X I discovered the tilt shaft has a worn worm that restricts full tilt to only 44-degrees. A replacement shaft through 'renovoparts' is listed at...
Does anyone know if a PC 890 router is compatible with the 6931 plunge router base?
Thks
Grain direction on one stile was wrong. The bits are Infinity and appear good quality. Who makes the small power feeder? I can control feed rate but the router spins 27K only.
I recently bought a window sash set of 1/2" shank router bits. Using the router table, I cut a trial set of 1 3/8" stiles, rails and muntins. The coping bit produced smooth results likely due to the...
My pockets aren't deep enough for the quality dovetail saws currently sold. Can anyone suggest a purveyor of old tools who might have vintage western dovetail saws? I've checked ebay plenty but...
I'm in the SF Bay Area.
I'm looking to order 8 tall cabinet doors. They'll be 18" x 84", shaker style paint grade maple or equal to receive overlay hinges. Mid-rails are fine.
Tall doors like this can have many demons,...
Thanks for all the input guys.
Jamie, I've used tons of the pre finished maple ply but this job calls for white.
I will look into to the Panolam product.
Regarding edge banding, there is a...
Is anyone aware of a 3/4" white prefinished plywood or veneer core white melamine? It will be used for a row of 7' tall storage cabinets. We are hoping to avoid the 3 coat painting process as much as...
thanks Tom. I'm not too concerned about the dust mess. It's unavoidable in a full demo so I won't be using a vac. The main concern is the careful cutting. Dremel looks good.
Thanks guys. Yes I'm aware of the need to wet cut because of dust. I own an old Makita 4 1/2" trim saw, also with a diamond blade. I intend to make a rip fence for the saw and double stick tape it to...
I know, we're wood guys but any suggestions here are appreciated. I have to make some surgical cuts in a mortar bed and tile stall shower. The shower walls and pan will be a complete demo. But the...
Thanks all. I decided to try fastening a thickness of hard maple as the single fence pad. Waxed it up and what an improvement, works great.
I recently bought a used X5 unisaw with 52" Biesmeyer fence in good condition. The 4 pads that ride on the front rail are intact and remain adjustable. Although I've added some paste wax I'm...
keep in mind that some saws do not have crowned tires and this changes the blade placement. MiniMax saws for example have flat tires. The blade positioning calls for the teeth to extend slightly over...
Thanks Ian, I found that one also. I like Bill's simple idea of a jointed 2x to receive the DI on the planer table. The "crow's foot" jig on top of the cutter head takes a lot of delicate maneuvering...
now I've created the Bob Vaughn recommended cutter head gauge. This device receives the dial indicator and is positioned on top of the cutter head to accurately place the knives.
Although my device...
Yes, the indicator is used for knife adjustment but also positioning of the cutter head in relation to the table.
I'm reassembling this planer with help from the great information on OWWM. Having trouble finding a dial indicator that is short enough in length to fit between the planer table and the cutter head....
yes I saw the set up instructions also, thanks.
