Does anybody know if the Kell honing guides are still being made? I've been trying to buy a No. 2 guide with large rollers and it seems to be on backorder everywhere. Garrett Wade just keeps moving...
Out of curiosity, what brand of hold fasts are you using? I have 20mm holes in my workbench top and both my Grammercy and my Black Bear Forge hold fasts are rock solid in the 4" top
FELDER
3 years (or a maximum of 5,400 operating hours) parts guarantee for mechanical components (Exceptions cf. 1.3.)
6 years (or a maximum of 10,800 operating hours) guarantee for the swivel...
Chisel and hammer. It only takes a few chops. There is really no need for the tenons to match the curve of the mortise.
My shop is upstairs in my house. No table saw, just a bandsaw and an MFT with a track saw. My next shop will have enough space for a slider. That (and a J/P) will be my number one priority. They are...
Are you sure the ES is available as 1 phase? I thought only the E was.
I’ve inquired about their saws in the US three times, never got a response back from them (them being Martin USA). I hope you’re more fortunate. They clearly don’t want my business.
So essentially the price increased 3.5% each year, which seems to be right in line with inflation.
Congrats on the saw! The hard work is done, enjoy it for a long time!
Typically 1 to 2 years. If I haven't used it in 2 years it's just taking up valuable space and somebody else would be better off having it.
I try going though all of my tools about once a year and...
Siwek lumber in Northeast. They also have a mill in Jordan.
Not nearly as big as Youngblood, but I've found this to be the best alternative so far. Man, I miss Youngblood...
Can you elaborate on b) a bit? I know very few people who have a main duct line that's larger than 6" and nobody has burned their shop down yet (that I know).
I guess the real question is:
- What...
What are you hoping to get out of the 30k stone that your 16k stone doesn't do for you?
While I don't necessarily disagree with you, I would like to point out that it's not just the cost of the item that they need to consider. Receiving it back, repackaging it, and putting it back in...
This could be a fairly unpopular opinion, but the Bad Axe D-8 is the tool purchase that I regret the most.
I have a perfectly fine Disston handsaw, but when Bad Axe announced their D8 I just jumped...
I’d argue that up until a few years ago almost no woodworker had flattening stones that were that level of flat, and they have been okay with it. It’ll be just fine...
Why do you think this is tariffs related? Raw material prices, especially steel, has been going up like crazy - couldn't this just be related to that?
Sorry about that. I think the joinery bench is 41" high but I will verify when I get home. It's about 40" wide and 30" deep
And that's why I have two benches: One for joinery work, where I want to have my stock higher at almost elbow height - and one for stock prep work, which is lower (32.5" - I am 6'1"). Planing lower...
Ask yourself if you really need a table saw. It takes up a lot of space and budget. You can do a lot with saws. Just food for thought... it all depends on how you want to work
Yes it will
I’ve got the small HF Dust collector (similar to the DR) with the dust right canister filter and it does everything i want it to do. It’s fine dust and I found it to be perfectly adequate for the job
I have a long sleeve smock that i wear during the winter. Instead of buying a short sleeve one for warm days I started wearing performance shirts. I think I’ll just do that year round going forward....
I just bought two gouges from him last week and they were sent out the same day and arrived a few days later.
When did you reach out to him?
You’d be shocked at how quickly you can do this with just a marking gauge and chisel. Score deep lines and just chisel our the waste.
