I just signed up for a class with Red Rose Reproductions on making a pair of hollows and rounds in September. I'm really looking forward to it.

Related to the other thread, has Stumpy Nubs come out with a video defending saw stop yet? Similar to the Harvey miter gauge video?:)
Fun - just sold mine a few years ago. I miss it terribly. Was a complete basket case when I got it, but after restoring it, took first at the TX VW Classic once. Put a 2276 in it. Sold it when...

Mortise and Tenon did a video on it...
I was taught Mortise first. On the tenon, on the face side, chisel a relief adjacent to knife line and angle the shoulder cut in a bit to under cut, on the non face side, saw right down the knife...
to be honest I've never watched either of these two "influencers", but after watching each of these, I'm more likely to watch more wood whisperer videos than I would Stumpy Nubs. I really got a bad...
now I understand, I didn't see the front piece that held the backs in. Thanks
Thank you, very good
Derek - I enjoy your builds. Are the backsaws attached in any manner? I'd be a little worried that I might knock an adjacent saw out when retrieving one if I wasn't really careful?
I have not been to the one in Yukon but I've been to the Big D one several times, I think this year is the ninth one. Prices were a little high but I found some good stuff.
Private message me...
I reached out to Lynn a few weeks back and purchased a plane. I believe he has been ill lately but they hope to get the sale back up and going. There is a vintage tool sale coming up on March 12 -...
I think ideally you would want a cross cut hand saw, a rip handsaw, a cross cut carcass or back saw, a rip carcass or back saw, and then a dovetail saw
I have duplicates of some of those in...
Thanks all, I was able to find someone willing to sell me their unused Hold Heet one.
Ha that is great old school
Interesting, that gets around the temperature issue with a bottle warmer or crock pot. Does it have an auto shut off after a period of time?
Yes, I'm sure there are all kinds of crock pots or bottle warmers that I can make work, but I try to adhere to a buy it once quality tool instead of going that route.
Does anyone make a hide glue pot anymore?
Lee Valley has one but its out of stock.
Doesn't look like Hold Heet still makes them.
I kinda wanted a dedicated glue pot instead of using a crock...
Interestingly enough, I built a Roubo a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure I didn't start reading anything of Chris's until afterwards.
I found benchcrafted hardware first and bought the plans...
Interestingly I watched the essential tools video first, where he says he never uses a block plane or a jointer plane or a coping saw etc. Then watched the dovetail box video where he used all of...
Timely thread, I'm evaluating the two as well. I do have a vintage radial arm saw, but i keep it set at 90 degrees, I can't imagine getting accurate miters with it.
second the Dukes, I get my college boys a combo box each Christmas, and they tend to run out about the time the new box shows up.
I was just going to suggest a edible oil as well, like a wooden spoon or a cutting board.
I was able to leverage my grandfathers membership. I only had to show how my son's tied to me, tied to my father and they took it from there. My mentor or whatever you want to call him ran with it...
I just did this for myself and two sons, almost 100 years to the date my grandfather did.
Luckily I had my grandfathers certificate and numbers so they were able to find it in their paper records...
Good luck finding one. All the harbor freight trailer tires have been recalled and they are not currently selling the trailers.
