Help an old illiterate!
Has the saw's performance been compromised by bad belts/bearings? I would think a pristine 66 would be good to go as-is. Heck, my 5HP 66 is over 28 years old and still runs like the day I installed...

Try none. I have one that is unfinished, and it looks great.
If you're not happy, then finish your mantel.
Wade,
I have the Shop Fox 26" double drum sander.
Use lacquer thinner to remove the old velcro and tape the ends with 3/4" strapping tade

Lacquer is NOT water resistant.
Do not use lacquer thinner if the pieces are stained or finished.
I use Toluol (I get mine at Menards). Same as Goo Gone, only a lot cheaper.

How 'bout these from Custom Service Hardware:

When I set up my Shop Fox 26" double drum, I measured .005" across the 26" width.
Bruce,
I buy mine from https://www.onlineindustrialsupply.com/, who carry plain-backed rolls. I have a Shop Fox double drum sander that uses 3-in. hook & loop paper. Like Jim Becker, I use mine...
Count me in. Thanks.
I'm in the same boat as Howard using Windows 10.
Don't know what you're making, but you can try this:
Make the piece you want to mortise in two pieces, both halves to be glued up to make one piece. In each half, cut a dado 3/8 in. deep x...
Talk about brain freeze! Mea culpa.

Zac, I'd be interested in the 12-inch Forrest if you decide to sell the blades.
I fill these from a gallon jug. Holds 12 ounces of glue, takes very little effort to squeeze, less than a buck at Walmart.

Not sure if it's the right one, but Grizzly has these http://media.grizzly.com/9670/Users/45235/emailbessey2-100719.jpgon clearance today for $25.
Roll cork. It comes as thin as 1/8 inch. Apply as-is or with spray adhesive (or glue?)
You say that the motor cover is missing. The black plastic box in your second photo sure looks like the motor cover on my 1995 5 hp Powermatic 66.
